The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart PLC held
their hill bred suckler calf sale together with store cattleon
Saturday 25th October 2003.All classes met
a very fast selling trade for an excellent show of quality calves.The
feature of the sale was 120 Charolais calves 4 – 6 months
from Greystoke Castle Farms with the bullocks averaging £507.50
and the heifers £341.
The show championship was won by Messrs J M & K E Hogg, Bellbank
with a Limousin bullock.Reserve champion was a Belgian Blue
bullock shown by R & M Carruthers, Blacksmith Cottage.The
show was judged by W Purdon, Strathaven and kindly sponsored by
Barclays Bank PLC
