In 1981 the company was reregistered to become a Public Limited Company.

Sales of livestock have been built up over the years and Longtown Mart is now the largest centre in the country for sales of sheep.

Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart P.L.C. took over the livestock auctioneering business of Thomson, Roddick & Laurie Ltd., at Dumfries and Thornhill Marts, as from 15th January 2001. This business is being run alongside the Longtown business.

Tom Jardine and Tucker Armstrong, are retiring from the Company Board of Directors. They were both presented with a garden seat at the AGM on Friday 2nd September 2011.
