In 1981 the company was reregistered to become a Public Limited Company.

Sales of livestock have been built up over the years and Longtown Mart is now the largest centre in the country for sales of sheep.

Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart P.L.C. took over the livestock auctioneering business of Thomson, Roddick & Laurie Ltd., at Dumfries and Thornhill Marts, as from 15th January 2001. This business is being run alongside the Longtown business.

Tucker Armstrong being presented with gifts of a coffee table, footstool and walking stick as he retired from being the Chairman of the Board after 16 years. He still remains as a Board member. Presenting the gifts is fellow member of the Board Tom Jardine, and Tuckers wife Milly

The members of the Board at the AGM held at Longtown on Friday 30th June 2006. Tucker Armstrong in the centre was retiring as Chairman of the Board, and the role is now taken on by Philip Walton.
