The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 3,836 store hoggs and breeding sheep at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 18th January, 2011.

Store hoggs again at extreme rates to a top of £80 for Beltex from Haswellsykes; Texel £79.50, £78 Mid Murthat, £77.50 Gibstown, £77 Routin Lynn and Heatherwick; Half Bred £76.50 Adderston Shields; Suffolk £76.50 Whitstonehill, £70.50 Linton House, £70 Haswellsyke; North Country Cheviot £75 Adderston Shields; Cheviot Mule £75 Mid Murthat; Hampshire £68.50 Riggheads; Charollais £68 Haithwaite; Greyface £66.50 Ridley Stokoe, £65.50 Kilncroft, £64.20 Haithwaite; Lleyn £66 Chipknowe; Blackface £66 Edges Green, £61 Lamperts, £60 Plenderleith; Kendal Rough £50.50 Park; Swaledale £50 Keilder Head.

Cast ewes and rams (561) were a great trade. Rams to £86 for Lleyns from Linton House; Leicester £81 Duchrae; Cheviot £71 Eldinhope; Blackface £70 Ridley Stokoe; Suffolk £64 Thornborough. Ewes to £80 for Texels from Mid Murthat; Leicester £75.50 Ridley Stokoe; Cheviot £73 Thornborough; Suffolk £68 Thornborough; Zwartbles £68 Thornborough; Greyface £67 Thornborough; Blackface £58 Thornborough.

A small show of breeding sheep were an excellent trade. Top price of £140 for in lamb Mule Shearlings from Rigg Heads with in lamb Mule Hoggs to £116 and £110 from Howe Nook.
