The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 126 Store
Cattle and 69 Breeding Cattle at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday
16th March, 2010.
A plainer show of store cattle saw a lot of grazing
cattle on offer and yet again met a brisk selling trade. Top price
of £825 for
a 12 month old British Blue bullock from M. Johnson & Son, Halfway
House Farm, others to £800 from the same home.
Breeding cattle
met an unbelievable trade with buyers from all over ensuring vendors
went home very happy. Top price of £2,100 for
a British Blue cow with Limousin bull calf from R.W. & M. Carruthers,
Blacksmiths Cottage, others from the same home to £1,850.
The
highlight of the sale was 19 Limousin heifers in calf to the Limousin
from W.T. Bendle & Son, The Nook which sold to £1,500 (x2)
and averaged £1,224.
