The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart
held their annual sale of Cheviot Mule ewe lambs and gimmer shearlings
at Longtown on Tuesday September 11th 2007.
500 Shearling gimmers met
strong demand to average £74, to
a top of £91 from D McGarva, Granton and selling to Barrie
Farms, Howburn, others to £86 from Mains of Machermore, £82, £80
Ladyhousesteads, £80 Whitton & Castlehill.
A quality show
of 2500 ewe lambs met a rather reduced demand on the year. Some
lots looked excellent value. The overall average of £49.60
was £6 down on last year.
Top price was £80
from Messrs H Cockburn & Partners, Kingside and purchased by
Messrs Hodgson, Swinhoe, others to £74 Corrie Hills, Overacres,
Gospel Hall. Others to £73 from Overacres and £72 Kingside, £72, £70
Wardshill, £71 Overacres, £70 West Nubbock, £68
Embley.
