The weekly primestock sale at Longtown on Thursday 9th March,
2006 included the Annual
Prize Show and Sale of Cheviot and Blackface hoggs, sponsored
by Frank Johnstone Tractors of Rosehill Carlisle and was judged by
Mr. H. Morris who awarded the following prizes :-
1st prize pen of South Country Cheviots
from W. & J. Glendinning,
Crawsknowe.
1st prize pen of North Country Cheviots from
W. & S.E. Dickinson, Kirkbarrow Hall.
1st prize pen of Blackfaces from R. & M.
Fergusson, Barlaes.
Champions – pen of Hill
Cheviot from Crawesknowe sold to A. Shan Jnr., Keighley for £58.
Pen of North Country Cheviot hoggs
1st. Prize Messrs. Dickinson,
Kirkbarrow sold at £57.50 to West Scottish Lamb, Carlisle.
2nd.
Prize Messrs. Maxwell, Halket Leaths sold at £57 to M.
Lomax, Deepthwaite.
Pen of South Country hoggs
1st. Messrs. Glendinning,
Crawesknowe sold at £56.50 to Welsh Country Food, Gaerwen.
Pen of Blackface hoggs
1st. Messrs. Fergusson,
Barlaes at £52.50
to R.J. Vevers.
