The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had
forward 4,808 store lambs of all classes (including 1861 Cheviots
and 1,731 Blackfaces) at their special sale at Longtown on Wednesday
14th September, 2005.
At the show and sale of Cheviot and Blackface
lambs, judging was in the capable hands of local buyer George Brough,
Cleughfoot, Longtown who awarded the following:-
1st prize pen of Hill Cheviots from Langholm Farms, Cooms sold
at £33.

In general both Cheviots and Blackfaces
would be £3 to £4
per head less on the year, but feeders were keen to purchase.
All
other store lambs met a sharper trade on the week and were short
of requirements, as more distant buyers were present.
