The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward
6,102 prime hoggs and 3,807 cast
ewes & rams at their weekly sale on Thursday 3rd February,
2005.
Included in the sale was a show of 12 pens of Swaledale hoggs,
sponsored by The Swaledale Sheep Society and ably judged by Mr
Billy MacTaggart of Castle Douglas.
The champion pen from
Messrs Lawson & Sons,
Kirkland Green, Wigton, scaling at 43kilos and making £47
bought by Welsh Country Foods, Anglesey. 2nd and 3rd prize
pens from L. Smith, Roachburn sold at £48.80 for 47 kilos
and £48.50 for 48 kilos, all bought by Welsh Country Foods.
