 The
Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 2,009
breeding sheep at their annual prize show and sale at Longtown
on Wednesday 21st May 2003.
Prior to the sale a show for Greyface hoggs with single lambs was
ably judged by Mr George Mitchell, Grassknop, Skelton, Penrith,
whose awards were as follows:
1st Prize – Messrs Winter Bros., Clickham Farm, Appleby, sold at £79
each to John Blaylock, Hallburn.
2nd Prize – Messrs Winter Bros., Clickham Farm, Appleby, sold at £72
each to the judge.
A very good show of breeding sheep attracted buyers from as far a field as Northampton,
Lincoln and Wales. Together with local buyers, all classes of sheep forward met
an excellent trade.
