Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart P.L.C.
had an entry of 544 Suckled Calves and Store Cattle at their Annual
Suckler Sale on Saturday 5th October 2002.
With a very good attendance of local and distant
buyers present, all classes met a very fast selling trade well in
advance of sellers expectations.
In the Show prior to the sale, which was sponsored
by Barclays P.L.C. and judged by Mr I. Souter, Perth, the Championship
and Reserve Championship was won by Messrs G. Mitchinson & Sons,
Gallowberry for a Limousin bullock and heifer. The Champion Limousin
bullock realised £660 to Messrs J. Brand and the Reserve Champion
Limousin heifer sold at £600 to the judge, Mr I. Souter.
