Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward
a catalogue entry of 3,033 ewes and shearlings at their Second
Sale of Lowland Breeding Sheep at Longtown on Wednesday 15th September
2004.
A good turnout of buyers were present from Suffolk, Devon and Aberdeen.
Best quality Greyface shearlings were a strong trade, selling to
a top of £95, £92 and £90 Leaona Villa, £91
Windy Hill and £90 Low Floweryhirst; Cheviot Mule £74
Strichen Mains. Continentals sold to £100 for Texel crosses
from Strichen Mains; Suffolk cross £62 Marshill.
A good quality show of manly young ewes attracted fierce competition,
with trade excellent for all classes.
