Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart held their annual sale of Gimmers, Blackface Ewe Lambs etc. on Friday in Dumfries on Friday 1st September 2006 when 4168 were forward.

2166 Mule Gimmers: a grand show was presented to a large ringside of both local and distant buyers. Trade was very brisk resulting in a most pleasing average of £78.75 (+£8.50).

192 Breeding Ewes: trade good.

1014 Blackface ewe lambs: scarcer, trade firmer despite lambs being smaller. Lambs averaged £32.91 (+£3.40).

948 store lambs: Opening sale of the season, trade good.

The firm also had a show an sale of Suffolks which were ably judged by C Gibb, Auchencreiff, Dumfries who awarded the championship to J & M Buchanan, Pretts Mill, Lanark for a ram lamb which realised £400 to D Greenshields, South Mains Sanquhar. The reserve also from Pretts Mill made £300 also to South Mains.
