The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 346
lots of Christmas turkeys, ducks, geese, chickens and guinea fowl
at their sale on Wednesday 21st December 2011.
An excellent show
of birds were on offer which led to all classes selling to a tremendous
trade. Top price of the day was £68
for a 28 ½ lb oven ready turkey from Mrs L.A. Ferguson,
Sandbed, and was also given for a heavy rough plucked turkey from
W. Thompson, Castlemilk.
