Cumberland & Dumfriesshire had forward 2017 gimmers, 314 breeding
ewes, 1463 Blackface ewe lambs, 674 store lambs and 42 Suffolk rams at
their special sale of breeding and store sheep in Dumfries on Friday
2nd September 2005.
All classes of Gimmers met a sound demand selling to a top of £91
for Texels from A Lewis & Co., Breconside, Thornhill. Blackface
ewe lambs met a difficult trade and averaged £29.47, a full £6
down on the year.
A good selection oif store lambs met a trade in keeping with the national
trend.

The Championship for Suffolk Rams was awarded to a quality lamb from
J & M Buchanan, Pretts Mill, Sandilands, Lanark and sold for £420
to DG Greenshields, South Mains, Sanquhar. Overall average of 23
sold £254.17.
Rams to £420 Pretts Mill and Backburn, £400 Burghhead, £380, £320, £300
and £280 Backburn, £340 Cumleys.
