Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC held their annual Association
show and sale of Scotch Mule Ewe Lambs at Dumfries on Friday 27th August
2004.
A catalogued entry of 5627 lambs was presented to a full attendance of
buyers from Devon to Aberdeen. Lambs were shown in good bloom considering
the weather during the past months. Top draw lambs were easier on the
year, second and third draws upheld last year’s values.
Sale average £57.09 (£61.04 in 2003).
Prior to the sale the show, sponsored by Bank of Scotland, was judged
by J.G. Stackhouse, Wardfield Farm, Galgate, Lancaster who had the very
difficult task of picking his Champion pen, finally opting for an outstanding
pen from T.W. Hamilton & Son, Kirkton of Crawford selling at £85
to the judge.
