Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart held their Annual Christmas Show & Sale of prime cattle at Dumfries on Wednesday 7th December 2005.

A & E Vance, Bridgehouse, Whithorn
The Championship Rosebowl went to A & E Vance, Bridgehouse, Whithorn for a home bred Limousin cross bullock.

Dumfries Auction156 prime cattle forward: Trade for all classes was sharper with a large attendance of butchers and wholesalers from south west Scotland in attendance. One of the best shows of quality cattle, a credit to local stocksment, was presented to the judge, Mr. D. Jarron, Scott Bros., Dundee, who eventually awarded the Championship Rosebowl to A & E Vance, Bridgehouse, Whithorn for a home bred Limousin cross bullock (565kg) which sold to Dalbeattie Fine Foods at 360p per kilo (£2,034).
The reserve champion was awarded to AJ Forsyth & Co, Mid Bishopton, Whithorn for a Charolais cross bullock (525kg) selling at 260p per kilo (£1365) to Galloway Frozen Foods, Dumfries.

The firm also held a Show and Sale of Cattle from Annandale Young Farmers and the judge awarded the Championship to a Limousin bullock from Greigsland, Johnstone Bridge which sold at 132p to Woodhead Bros.

Best heifer was a Charolais from Poldeean which made 122p to PR Duff & Son.

Dumfries Prime Sheep Sale2419 prime lambs sold at the weekly sale of prime lambs: slightly easier on the week, but dearer than expected on the day. Lambs 43 kg and under were easly sold whilst heavy lambs proved harder to sell. Top price of 118.3p was paid for Texels from RW Nairn, Shieldhill, Lochmaben. Top per head of £51 for Texels from JJ Kingan, Laneside, Dumfries.
