Dumfries Primestock Report

C&D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of Prime Sheep in Dumfries on Wednesday 4th March 2026.

A similar number of hoggs were presented today to last week. Todays SQQ was 356.5p/kg and overall 343.9p/kg.

Topping today’s trade was £188 for a strong pair of Suffolk tup hoggs from Harkness, Netherhall. In spec hoggs were a pleasure to sell selling at 375p/kg for 39-45kg from Sloan, Rigghead. Sloan from Upper Longbank topped the light lambs at 406p/kg.

Ewes and Rams would be sharper on the week topping at £265 from Maxwell Farming, Druidhall twice. Harkness, Netherhall was up to £194 for Texel ewes and Scott, Copewood was up to £190. Cheviot ewes met a fast trade topping at £158 for a pen of 22 ewes from Currie, Skewbridge.
