Buyers from all over flocked to Dumfries for the Skemrigghead Dispersal on behalf of Messrs J & A Dunbar.

Top red genetics have been constantly used to upgrade the stock with the intention of producing durable cattle and the packed ringside were not disappointed with seven lots making 2,000 guineas and over.

The top price was 2,150gns. for a calved pedigree Ayrshire Heifer, Dinwoodie Venus by Red Arrow selling to Messrs J & O Ritchie, Middlebie, Lockerbie.

Four cattle shared the next top price of 2,050 guineas

- A Newly calved Holstein Friesian Heifer to Messrs CD & CA Sommerville, Braehill, Dumfries

- A Pedigree Calved Ayrshire Heifer, Dinwoodie Watermist by Red Arrow, to M Edmonds Cwmistir Mcmae, Wales

- A Norwegian Red calved Heifer by Hiegre to Messrs C & D Lindsay, North Clutag, Wigtown

- A Pedigree Ayrshire Heifer, Dinwoodie Astral 3 by Misty Red, in calf to Peterslund, a Swedish Red Bull & purchased by Mr R Mckelvey, Burnside, Lochmaben

The last lot in the ring a 3 week old Red & White Holstein Calf was kindly donated to charity by the Dunbar Family it made 620 guineas (£651) to K Dunbar, Burnfoothill, Eaglesfield and the Spina Bifida & Anthony Nolan Trust will benefit as a result.
